ABOUT

Jiaxing Yang is a Chinese-born 3D generalist and digital artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known as the co-director of the animated short film Forever (2025). Jiaxing specializes in 3D animation, lighting, and rendering, and is well-versed in the entire 3D animation and motion media production pipeline. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Animation from Purdue University.
Jiaxing has been an artist for as long as he can remember. From a young age, he filled sketchbooks with hundreds of drawings, competed in and won art competitions, and even had his first televised exhibition as a teenager. That lifelong passion for visual storytelling eventually led him to pursue formal training in the animation industry. After earning his B.S. from Purdue, he continued to refine his artistic voice at SCAD, where he focused on character animation, lighting, and rendering, while exploring a wide range of artistic styles.
As a 3D animator, Jiaxing is drawn to expressive performances—ensuring that every movement conveys clear intention and emotion. The subtleties of a character’s gestures and the rhythm of a scene are essential to immersing the audience in the story. To him, animation is more than motion—it’s performance, where physics and personality merge to create believability.
As a lighting artist, he is captivated by the cinematic power of light and shadow. Light shapes perception, defines space, and evokes emotion. Whether sculpting a dramatic chiaroscuro or crafting a soft, ambient glow, Jiaxing uses light as a storytelling tool—guiding the viewer’s eye and enriching the mood of each scene. Inspired by cinematography and natural phenomena, he strives to create visuals that are both aesthetically compelling and narratively purposeful.
