Overview

The History of Dragon Boat Festival is an infographic motion design project created in After Effects, centered on the cultural origins and historical development of the Dragon Boat Festival. The video introduces key figures such as Qu Yuan and traces the evolution of the holiday through a sequence of stylized informational compositions that combine motion graphics, typography, and image-based storytelling.

The project also marked one of my earliest explorations of AI-assisted workflows in motion design. All of the imagery was generated with Midjourney, and the narration was produced using an AI voice generation tool based on a written script. To support the visual transitions and reveal different layers of content, I incorporated ink-drop footage and used mask-based compositing techniques to animate text and imagery across the piece. While the generated visuals still reflected some of the limitations of early AI image tools, the project served as a valuable experiment in integrating AI-generated assets into an infographic and editorial motion graphics workflow.
