Overview

Ghost Busker is a collaborative student animated short created during my time at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The film explores the integration of 2D and 3D animation through the story of a lonely ghost who longs for connection on Halloween night. While the ghost is feared by passing travelers, a young boy ultimately approaches him with kindness, leading to a gentle and unexpected moment of friendship.

A central focus of the project was the visual interaction between 2D and 3D elements. The ghost was designed and animated as a 2D character, while the human characters and environments were built in 3D. This contrast became the defining visual language of the film, supported by additional 2D effects such as smoke and dust to enhance the atmosphere and strengthen the hybrid aesthetic.

Within the production, I contributed to environment modeling, grass generation in Maya using FX tools, lighting for the midground and foreground shots, character animation inside the car, camera animation, 2D/3D compositing, sound effects for the full film, and the creation of the ending credits. The project gave me the opportunity to work across multiple stages of a collaborative pipeline while helping shape the visual and technical integration that defined the short.
